Pak Bara
Pak Bara is the only place where you can reach Koh Lipe at any time of the year. It is the main terminal for boats going to most of the islands in the Tarutao Marine National Park, which includes Lipe.
Pak Bara can be reached from a multitude of other choice destinations, but the easiest is from Hat Yai. It is also very easy to reach Pak Bara via Trang if you're traveling from Krabi or Phuket. Hat Yai and Trang both have train and bus stations, as well as airports, with Hat Yai being the larger of the two.
There aren't many options for accommodation in Pak Bara. So if you plan to stay the night be sure to book in advance which you can do here. Below is our recommended Pak Bara Resort. If the resort is full, we suggest staying the night in Hat Yai and leaving early in the morning for LIpe or Tarutao.

Ferries and speedboats leave daily from Pak bara to Koh Lipe and they depart from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. A one-way trip will cost you 650 Thai baht and a roundtrip will cost you 1,200 Thai baht. Check out the latest schedule at the bottom for the page.
If you're coming from Hat Yai, it only takes 2 hours to get to Pak Bara.

Coming from Krabi and Phuket area: If you are traveling on your own to Koh Lipe from the Krabi area or Phuket you want to go South towards Satun (town in southern Thailand) with a stop in Trang and a stop in Lang-nu.
Lang-nu is about an hour before Satun and you need to get off there. Once you're off the bus just ask a tuk-tuk or a taxi to take you to Pak Bara, it's not too far. You can then have time to stroll along the lovely promenade on Pak Bara's Beach. But...it's a lot easier and costs about the same to let us handle all the on and offs for you. We can arrange private taxi or shared vans.
From Hat Yai: The cost of a private taxi for up to 4 people with luggage is 2000 baht from Hat Yai. For larger groups, we suggest taking a mini-van for 2500 baht. We can pick you up at the airport or hotel in Hat Yai.
If your going it alone, be advised that the mini-bus station is no longer inside the Hat Yai city center and has moved just a few short minutes away (you can arrange pick-up from your place of accommodation or take a tuk-tuk/taxi to the mini-bus station). Transfer from Hat Yai will cost you about 180 Thai baht in a shared public van. As it is Thailand, the driver will not leave until the mini-bus is completely full so don't expect to depart on time.
**If you arrive in Hat Yai before 10:00 a.m. (11:30 a.m. if you've already arranged the necessary transportation) then you will have enough time to make it to Pak Bara before the last boat and ferries leave. If you arrive after that time it would be wise to spend the night in Hat Yai or travel to Pak Bara and spend the night there
Once in Pak Bara, you can buy your tickets at the main pier.
*Be very careful if you decide to purchase your speedboat or ferry ticket to Koh Lipe from the Hat Yai mini-bus station, as they are notorious for selling you false tickets and providing incorrect information. Wait to buy your boat or ferry tickets until you get to Pak Bara or just to be safe, we can arrange all of this for you so you don't have to lift a finger, just contact us.
There's food stalls, shops, and a beautiful beach to enjoy the sunset, so you won't be hard pressed to find something to occupy your time while waiting for the boats to depart. Also be sure to arrive everywhere ahead of departure time, Thailand is notoriously bad for being late but it's always better to be safe than sorry!

Pak Bara To Koh Lipe Ferry and Speedboat Schedule
Pak Bara is the main pier for reaching Koh Lipe, speedboats run all year unless otherwise noted. The journey to Lipe from Pak Bara takes approx. 2 hours and is about 60km. Pak Barra is the main port town for getting to Koh Lipe. Take a taxi or van from Hat Yai (approx. 2 hours), Trang (approx. 2 hours) Satun (approx. 1 hour), Krabi (approx. 4.0 hours), and Phuket (approx. 6.0 hours)
