Langkawi To Koh Lipe
Langkawi is an island in the north of Malaysia about 40km from Koh Lipe and is easily accessible by boat several times a day. It has ferry connections to Satun and Koh Lipe in Thailand as well as to Kuala Kedah, Kuala Perlis and Penang in Malaysia. The nearest pier, and the one with the most boats to Lipe is at Telaga Harbor.

Take a speed boat from Langkawi at Telaga Harbor to Koh Lipe. (approx. 1 hour) The speedboats only run from Nov to the end of April. Alternative route from May to Oct is via Satun.
Telaga Harbor is on the west coast of Langkawi, about 15 minutes from the Langkawi airport, or 30 min. from Kuah. Once at the harbor office you will be taken through necessary immigration procedures and your passport will be given to the driver for safe passage.
The speedboat journey takes approx. 1 hour and will unload you at Pattaya Beach on Koh Lipe at the immigration office next to Bundhaya Resort. Once the immigration procedures are complete, you are free to visit Koh Lipe and Thailand.
There is a one hour time difference between Malaysia and Thailand (Malaysia is one hour ahead).
If coming from Penang, you should travel to Langkawi for the speedboat, or Satun and then Pakbara in Thailand.
Langkawi is one of the more stable climates for an island in Malaysia, generally protected from strong winds and storms from the mainland, making Langkawi suitable all year. Sporadic occasional rain and overcast skies, but never too nasty.
Temperatures remain fairly constant during the day, around 30 to 35°C and a little chillier at night at around 28°C.
From Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi, there are many flights a day on Malaysian Airlines or Air Asia. Malaysia Airlines arrive and depart from KL International airport.
All flights arrive and depart from LCCT airport. It is approximately 30 minutes between airports, minibuses or taxi’s are available to take you to a hotel or the pier at Telaga Harbor.

If you are coming from Langkawi, Pinang or other parts of Malaysia during low season, you must first go to Satun or Hat Yai crossing the border, then to Pak Bara. If you are coming from Kuala Lumpur or Singapore, you can fly direct to Langkawi or Hat Yai, or take a bus or train to HatYai and then taxi to Pak Bara.
Langkawi is approximately 30km from Koh Lipe in Malaysia. This route is open only during high season. There is now an immigration office on Koh Lipe to help with stamping in or out of Thailand.
