Pak Bara
Pak Bara is best reached by mini-bus from Hat Yai, though you could come via Trang if traveling from Phuket or Krabi. Both Trang and Hat Yai have airports and train stations.

Pak Bara, is a very sleepy town with limited guesthouses and few restaurants or bars. If you do not wish to stay overnight in Pak Bara plan your arrival with plenty of time ahead of the departure schedule.
Ferries depart between 10:00 and 14:00. Check the latest schedules under our travel section.

Hat Yai
This Southern city is fully equipped with many hotels, markets, shopping centres and restaurants. If you would rather not stay the night in Hat Yai, plan to arrive early in the morning (before 10:00) for taxi or mini-bus service to Pak Bara.
Private Taxi - approx. 1500 baht from the airport or city, pick up and transfer to Pak Bara, contact Pak Bara Travel.

The Mini-Bus station has moved outside of the city centre, transfer to Pak Bara is about 180 baht, however, the driver waits until the bus is full which could delay your departure. Be wary of purchasing boat tickets and booking accomodation at the mini-bus station. They have been known to provide false and mis-leading information.

Wait to buy ferry tickets from the pier in Pak Barra rather than from touts in Hat Yai or from the mini-bus operator. The taxi journey is about 2 1⁄2 hours, by mini-bus it's slightly longer.

If you choose to stay in Hat Yai, a taxi from the airport costs about 350 baht to get to the city center. Hat Yai has great markets, shopping, hospital, internet, and some fantastic restaurants, like The Swan.
There is plenty of accommodation. We recommend staying at the King's Hotel or the Novotel.

Bangkok
You can take a taxi directly outside the airport terminal. There is a taxi stand with attendants who speak many languages and will give you the approx. cost to your hotel or guesthouse in Bangkok. There are also kiosks and direct phone lines to many hotels in the city.
Bangkok is a big and vibrant city, so we suggest doing a little research on where you would like to go. We suggest Silom, Sukhumvit, Khao San Road areas.

To get back to the airport or train station simply hire any taxi. Bangkok traffic can be horrendous so allow yourself plenty of time. There are also airport buses in various areas.

Book a flight or a train ticket on-line or at one of the many travel agents in and around Bangkok. Check our helpful links page for flights and train schedules.

Langkawi has a pier and there are normally ferries to Koh Lipe during high season, but the schedule could change due to weather conditions and availability.

The ferry departs from Telaga Harbour at Langkawi to Koh Lipe. Please contact Telaga Harbour or telephone +604 9592202 for more up-to-date information.

Satun and HatYai are the only other options if coming from Malaysia.

Koh Lanta
From Koh Lanta, Phi Phi Island, Phuket and Koh Jum, there are now boats that operate on odd days from Koh Lanta. If you can get to Koh Lanta from the other islands, this trip is fun and worth the little bit of effort. This trip usually takes 3-4 hours with short stops at Koh Ngai and Koh Mook. (subject to change each season)
